Expert Back Pain Injury Treatment

While the back is usually very robust, it’s not impervious to injury. Perhaps you twisted or bent awkwardly, pulling a muscle or dislocating something. Maybe you fell from a height, or you were involved in a car accident or sustained a sporting injury. Whatever the case, back pain can hugely negatively impact your life and can often linger for years or indefinitely.

The good news is that osteopathy is a proven back injury therapy that can help alleviate this pain by addressing the underlying cause. Osteopathy treatments help rehabilitate a person’s back, drastically reducing or even eliminating any pain and restoring the person’s quality of life.

At Osteopathy and You, we’re delighted to be the first-choice Southampton back pain clinic. We’ve treated countless clients over the years, and many have gone on to recommend us to friends and family. Our team comprises primary healthcare providers, and each one has undergone 4-5 years of training before starting at our clinic.

Furthermore, our osteopaths undergo Continued Professional Development (CPD) annually. The purpose of CPD is to ensure that medical professionals remain up to speed on current practices and procedures. And as registered members of the General Osteopathic Council, you can trust that you’re in safe and capable hands.

With all that said, what precisely is osteopathy, and why should you be excited by it if you’re living with back pain? Osteopathy is, in a nutshell, a method of detecting, treating, and preventing health problems through movement, stretches, and massages. The muscles and joints are the focus, and the goal is to improve a person’s well-being.

The principle of osteopathy is that a person’s well-being is linked to their:

  • Bones
  • Muscles
  • Ligaments
  • Connective Tissues

And so, through osteopathy, we adopt a holistic, whole-body approach that:

  • Increases Joint Mobility
  • Relieves Muscle Tension
  • Reduces Pain
  • Enhances Blood Supply to Tissues
  • Assists the Body with Healing

Osteopathic treatments do not involve surgery, and medications are not used when treating a person’s back pain or other ailments. Instead, the entire process relies on techniques, such as massages, to achieve the desired results. And every back injury therapy conducted this way is overseen and regulated by law here in the UK.

Benefits of Osteopathic Treatment

Now that you’re familiar with osteopathy, you’re likely curious about the benefits. After all, why not correct your back pain through surgery or prescribed medication? While these approaches have their merits, osteopathy can achieve the same results without necessitating surgery or taking medications.

Benefits of osteopathy include:

  • Relieves Pain
  • Holistic Approach
  • Helps Prevent Certain Injuries and Conditions Recurring
  • Stops Pain from Developing
  • Facilitates Relaxation and Reduces Stress Levels

If you’re looking for a back injury treatment, you’re most likely dealing with excruciating pain. Back pain can be very debilitating, limiting movement and causing a myriad of other issues, as the back is connected to pretty much every other system in the body. People with back pain often try to limit their movement, but this is counterintuitive and usually makes the problem worse. Our treatments eliminate this problem by tackling the pain.

Back injuries are the most common cause of back pain. The problem is that when a system in the body is injured, it’s more prone to being injured again in the future. In addition, a back injury leaves the back weakened and vulnerable. Through osteopathy, we devise a bespoke treatment plan that targets and strengthens the structure of the back.

This helps greatly reduce and even mitigate the chances of you injuring your back again in the future. In some cases, back pain results from bad habits, such as slouching, or lifestyle choices, such as working out at the gym or playing rugby. Repetition can eventually lead to pain, even if no injury is present.

Our osteopathic treatments help mitigate this problem as they take care of the back, reduce tension, enhance blood flow, and increase the spine’s mobility. And as our treatments are entirely holistic, they don’t simply focus on the back. Instead, we look at the many different areas of the body to devise a plan that harmonises with various systems.

Lastly, our treatments, Southampton clients, facilitate relaxation and help to alleviate stress. After all, massages can be very relaxing, but that’s not the only reason. Our treatments allow you time to reflect on yourself, and they enhance blood flow, nerve supply, and the immune system, leaving you feeling at peace.

All this plays a huge role in helping us feel more relaxed and staving off anxiety.

Additional Services We Offer

Here at Osteopathy and You, we recognise that no clients will necessarily have the same requirements. Case in point, while this article focuses on back pain, this is by no means the only thing that we treat at our Southampton clinic.

We can also treat other conditions, ranging from neck and shoulder pain to headaches, foot and ankle pain, hand and elbow pain, and hip and knee pain.

Plus, we offer additional services, such as nutrition, Pilates, dry needling, personal training, medical cupping therapy, and myofascial taping.

Our expert team carries out all our treatments, which you can read more about below.

Our Expert Team

Jemma heads up our expert team. When you call for a consultation, you’ll be seen by her. The practice of osteopathy considers the body as a unit (AT Still). Jemma will ask questions concerning your work, lifestyle, and medical history. Your answers will assist her in understanding you and your body and determining the right approach to your treatment.

Once the examination is concluded, a treatment plan will be devised, and your first appointment will be scheduled. You should come to your appointment wearing appropriate underwear (or loose shorts) that you’re comfortable in. We also recommend bringing with you a medium-size towel.

If you have been prescribed medication or supplements, Southampton clients, we ask that you provide us with the names of the drugs along with your current prescribed dosage. The number and frequency of treatments will vary and be discussed during your examination.

As for payment, we accept debit, credit (excluding American Express), Apple Pay, and cash.
